Whereas, LAMP is only for Linux, MAMP is only for Mac-os. WAMP is for Windows only. So, we will learn to install WordPress with XAMPP. Because, it is usable on all devices and above all in terms of convenience.

I will install WordPress on localhost in five easy sequences.

  • Download xampp.
  • Install and run the xampp on your PC.
  • Download wordpress latest version.
  • Create database.
  • Install wordpress on localhost.

Each step of installing WordPress on a local host is described in detail.

1. Download XAMPP.

Click here to download XAMPP. Then pick your operating system and download.

There are different versions of xampp. Click here to download the software of your choice.

2. Install and run the xampp on your PC.

After downloading the software, unzip it. After the unzip is completed. The specific program needs to be installed. Now click on Next.

Now you will need to choose some necessary components. Here are the servers and what programming languages we will use. Based on that, I will determine the options. Since we will install WordPress on the localhost, we will set Apache, MySQL, PHP and phpMyadmin. If you want to use another facility, or any other service on the localhost. Then we can determine some more options as required.

A few moments later. A welcome notice will come. And a process of what is being installed can be seen.

However, if any antivirus software is running, security alerts will be displayed. In that case there is no reason to worry, go to the next step by clicking the allow Access button.

Now you will need to choose the language. Select the language of your choice and click. The install process is almost complete.

Now complete the install by clicking on the Finish button. Wait a while because it will turn on automatically.

3. Download wordpress latest version.

Our second step has been completed. Now the local server is ready. So now we will download the WordPress software and set it up on our local host. Click here to download WordPress. If for some reason is not downloaded from here. However, click here to download from the official site of WordPress.

The file will take some time to download. Then unzip the zip file and leave it for use in the next step.

4. Create database.

Our third step has been completed. This time we will place the unzipped WordPress file on the local server. For this we have to go to My Computer or this PC and enter C Drive. Here you will find a folder named XAMPP, you need to enter it. Then enter the htdocs folder. Now I will paste the previously unzipped WordPress file here. I changed the name of the WordPress folder to mytest. But you can give it any name you want. Or keeping WordPress is no problem.

  • Now browse ” localhost/phpmyadmin ” in any browser on your PC.
  • Then select the database.
  • Then, edit the WordPress file and enter the name you gave it. As we wrote mytest. Now click on the Create button.

Now our localhost database is complete. Now we can use it to sit in the WordPress store. However, before running WordPress, we must turn on mysql and apache. Without these launches, we will not have access to phpmyadmin. So first we go to the apps folder. Then I will start xampp. A dashboard will appear after launching. From here I will start mysql database and apache web server.

5. Install wordpress on localhost.

Now set the language of your choice. Now go to the next step. Now, let’s go to the next step by clicking let’s go.

Now use mytest instead of database name. Or if you have previously created a database under another name, use that name. Use root instead of username. Type localhost in place of database host. Type wp_ in place of table prefix. Now click on submit. Now WordPress is fully installed on the local host.

The next step is to create a WordPress user with your username, password and e-mail address. Now, if you enter ” localhost/mytest ” in any browser, you will see your website directly, and by entering ” localhost/mytest/wp-admin ” you will be able to enter directly into the WordPress dashboard. Your work is done perfectly.
